Luton vs. Cardiff – IceTips
Bet: Over 39.5 match booking points & Over 19.5 Luton booking points – 2.1 @ William Hill (BuildYourOdds) (1.9 @ Skybet)

WH rules on booking points: Yellow Card = 10 points. Red Card = 25 points

This bet has landed in Luton’s last 6 Ch’ship matches & in 8 of their last 10 – while 9 of the last 10 have seen 40 or more booking points. The average Luton match this season sees over 4 cards (4.22 to be precise) with them averaging 2.15 cards per match). Cardiff has taken 20+ booking points against them in 7 of their last 10, however they’ve seen that in 6 matches in a row now. Tonight’s official Geoff Eltringham has given 15 cards in 3 Ch’ship duties this season. While yet to take on Luton or Cardiff, this particular bet would have sailed in last season with ease (two Luton duties and one Cardiff duty). Can imagine Cardiff contributing a fair bit too as a new manager, Sabri Lamouchi takes charge of his first match as Cardiff manager today in order to push them further away from the drop zone.

Newcastle vs. Southampton – Ryan Bets
Bet: Kieran Trippier shots ladder – Over 0.5/Over 1.5/Over 2.5 (Bet365)

Editors note: For some reason Trippier shots are underrepresented here – a shot taken vs. Fulham, Leeds, Man Utd & Nottm Forest aren’t counted. Cross referenced with OPTA who confirm shots taken there.

As mentioned by JBT above, Southampton are rising in the foul ranks and getting stuck in more since Nathan Jones took over. A clear message to his players since he took the reins at the Saints. Trippier managed 2 shots in the reverse leg of this cup tie quite easily and I expect something similar here. I expect a cagey affair with plenty of hard tackles going in for a spot at Wembley. Over 1.5 being priced @4.00 is too much value for me to ignore and over 2.5 shots @11.00 is a small play that’s worth backing with Trippier being the first name on each set piece. Newcastle’s aim will be to kill the pace of the game quickly and no better way to do this than to go down looking free kicks, a strategy they imposed against Leicester in the last knockout round when they got 16 free kicks in the game.
